The reason being is twofold. I typically find that #1 comics sell well enough on their own. They get peak publisher promotion. Over the years that I’ve formally been involved with the comics industry — primarily as a critic/reporter and a social media personality — I’ve written about too many comics to count. The distribution stoppage feels increasingly behind us after both Marvel and DC took the week before July 4 off, and now we have a great selection of comics from the Big 2, from indie publishers, and also from book publishers, with Tom Scioli’s excellent Jack Kirby book standing out as the cream of that crop.

Meaning, that the coronavirus crisis in this country has shut down comic book printing, the distributor that ships comics nationwide, and the network of small businesses that sell the books in the community.
