By Zack Quaintance — This week’s comics feel more robust than past offerings in some ways but clearly lagging in others. This is due to DC Comics coming out with its fullest slate of books since distribution resumed, while Marvel Comics new releases are regulated to online only. It is, however, a nice glimpse of half of what we can come to expect again by the end of this summer.

I love it when that happens, signaling as it does that this is an urbane site that appreciates the wide variety of stories being told right now...provided those stories are being told in a very specific monthly direct market format.

It’s hard to get a good sense of whether a series is really worth reading from just a debut alone. So, we like to sit back and give it an issue or two before we give it the august honor (super important) of appearing on this list. All of that is to say it really speaks to how much we liked Tartarus and Undone By Blood, both of which have debut issues appearing on this week’s list.
