You don’t even have to have read Descender to enjoy it.

I also tend to think of all the long-running franchises, Hellboy consistently delivers the best short form comics.

Why It’s Cool: So much attention is paid to writer Alan Moore’s DC Comics production — from Watcmen to Swamp Thing — that the comics he did later in his career (many of which are even better) can get lost at times. If this has happened with you, there’s a sale this week that makes it ridiculously easy to catch up on the final volume of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Why It’s Cool: In terms of sheer ass-kickery, there is no better couple at DC Comics than Midnighter and Apollo, and this book is the last collected mini-series involving the duo, courtesy of writer Steve Orlando (does anyone write better superhero brawling comics?) and artist Fernando Blanco. Also, not to spoil anything but based on Future State, the duo seems primed to make a comeback…
