REVIEW: King in Black #1 is a wailing, heavy metal riff

By T.W. WORN — Lo and behold, my children of the night, true believers, for our dark lord shall soon descend upon us! Our King In Black shall reign in a world of uncreation! We will return to a universal void of darkness! May his flesh be ours! Beautifully corrupted beings of nothingness! The time is nigh, for the death knell of existence rings! They wailing cries of suffering shall soon be silenced! Lift praise to our lord of nothingness!

The prophecy lives with the tome of King In Black #1, delivered to us by our mad prophets Donny Cates and (Venom, God Country), who has been chosen to show us the signs! For years Cates has been guiding us into the abyss of our King In Black, Knull, the oldest and truest being! The living flesh of darkness, the Symbiotes, have come to claim what is truly theirs! We have seen the signs through the cosmos, and through pages of prophecy given to us by Cates! Years of work have led us to annihilation! Our journey is soon over, and judgement is at hand! Today we accept Armageddon against the super-powered beings that try to stop his will! Let them try and stop our master, for they will not survive their power and hope alone!

The apocalyptic displays that haunt the book are by our second prophet, Ryan Stegman (Inhuman, Venom.) Like in the earlier texts, the horrific and beautiful destruction of creation fills the pages! Stegman once again goes above and beyond the call of our King In Black, showing the King and his creations in horrifying detail!

The true boldness of our uncreator is empowered by JP Mayer (Venom, Reign In Hell,) whose inking flows like the dark flesh of the Symbiotes! lThe colors of our doom set the tone for a somber reuniting with our dark lord, thanks to Frank Martin (Venom, Powerpack.) Inscribed in this crooked tome are the words of destruction by VC's Clayton Cowles (Eternals, Daredevil,) for whom we should all be thankful for! Like everything leading up to this final installment of prophecy, King In Black feeds us the darkness our bodies so desperately yearn for! Let us praise these prophets of true darkness, and may the reign of Knull be all consuming and never ending!

Soon all shall be devoured and undone!
Soon we shall return to the abyss we so desperately crave!
Soon we shall be one with nothing!
Hail the King In Black!
Hail Knull!

Overall: King In Black #1 is the wailing, heavy metal riff we have been building up to. Like a stack of SUNN0))) amplifiers, it blows me a way into reverberating bliss. 9/10
