Best comiXology Sales: Weekend of March 26, 2021

Cyclops, Vol. 1: Starstruck
Writer:
Greg Rucka
Artists: Carmen Carnero, Russell Dauterman, and Terry Pallot
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cyclops just discovered that the father he thought died long ago is alive and well -- and a space pirate! Spinning out of ALL-NEW X-MEN comes the first solo adventure for one of the time-traveling original mutant teens! Young Cyclops stays in space to get to know his dad, and the two steal a Badoon spaceship for an intergalactic road trip! First stop, the resort world of Dixzit -- but Dixzit has a dark secret. And when Corsair and Cyclops shipwreck, they get to have that nice father-son chat they've both been avoiding, The indigenous species are none too happy with them, either. What bargains will need to be struck to get out alive? And is their would-be rescuer putting Scott at greater risk than before?
Why It’s Cool: Simply put, this book features an incredible pedigree of creators delivering a nuanced take on one of the most popular and compelling heroes from the X-Men. The X-Men just don’t work the same way without Scott Summers. Also, this book flew very low under the radar, and so I’m guessing many readers missed it. Now is the chance to fill that gap.
Price: $2.99

House of X/Powers of X
Writer:
Jonathan Hickman
Artists: Pepe Larraz and R.B. Silva
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Face the future — and fear the future — as superstar writer Jonathan Hickman (INFINITY, NEW AVENGERS, FANTASTIC FOUR) changes everything for the X-Men! In HOUSE OF X, Charles Xavier reveals his master plan for mutantkind — one that will bring mutants out of humankind’s shadow and into the light once more! Meanwhile, POWERS OF X reveals mutantkind’s secret history, changing the way you will look at every X-Men story before and after. But as Xavier sows the seeds of the past, the X-Men’s future blossoms into trouble for all of mutantdom. Stories intertwine on an epic scale as Jonathan Hickman reshapes the X-Men’s past, present and future!
Why It’s Cool: This is the comic that reset the X-Men and gave them a new concept that catapulted them back to the forefront of the Marvel Universe, but monthly comic books in general. And look, I know most of you reading this have probably already bought and read these comics, but I will just say that it’s nice to have them in digital format for easy access, especially as now nearly two full years later, the wider line continues to explore plot points that were originally seeded in these pages.
Price: $9.99

X-Force Vol. 1 - X-Force Vol. 2
Writer:
Benjamin Percy
Artist: Joshua Cassara
Publisher: Marvel Comics
The high price of a new dawn! The X-Men have an island home and a bright future at last — but the dangers they face are far from over! That means they need X-Force, the mutant CIA — half intelligence branch, half special ops. Beast, Jean Grey and Sage are on one side; Wolverine, Kid Omega and Domino are on the other. But when the X-Men’s foes launch a devastating strike, Krakoa faces a major security breach — and a staggering loss! The new X-Force must hit the ground running, and take on the threats targeting mutantkind — beginning by unraveling a mystery and taking vengeance! But their deadly choices will have dark consequences. Plus: When new technology threatens Krakoa’s safety, Beast takes matters into his own hands! And can the team save the life of the one person the X-Men cannot lose?
Why It’s Cool: In the new X-Men status quo, X-Force is about the black ops paramilitary unit that protects mutantkind’s interest, and while on the surface that’s probably a somewhat tired concept, it has been rendered so interestingly in these pages by artist Joshua Cassara, an absolute force as a sequential artist.
Price: $3.99 each or $7.98 for both

X-Men Black
Writers:
Scott Aukerman, Chris Claremont, Seanan McGuire, Lonnie Nadler, Robbie Thompson, Zac Thompson, and Leah Williams
Artists: Andre Lima Araujo, Chris Bachalo, Geraldo Borges, Nick Bradshaw, Shawn Crystal, Marco Failia, and Dalibor Talajic
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Magneto. Mojo. Mystique. Juggernaut. Emma Frost. Apocalypse. The X-Men have gone head-to-head with all of them countless times over the years – but now the villains are the stars! From the cold vacuum of space to the jungles of the Savage Land, from dominating a secret society’s inner sanctum to crashing through all walls in their way, these titanic tales show what makes the X-Men’s opponents the most formidable in the universe. Chris Claremont sets Magneto on a new path! Mojo finds…love? Mystique delivers revenge-fueled chills, seductive thrills and brutal kills! Emma Frost sets her sights on the Hellfire Club! Nothing can stop the Juggernaut…until now! And a transformative tale of Apocalypse that must be seen to be believed!
Why It’s Cool: Shortly before the reset and the new status quo, the X-Men comics gave us a series of one-shots looking at the current statuses of their most iconic villains. What resulted was a set of pretty decent stand-alone stories that remind readers of all the disparate agendas that have come together to make Krakoa possible…as well as some of the ways things may very well fracture. You can read all these stories now in this one volume.

X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever
Writer:
Max Bemis
Artist: Michael Walsh
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Bailey Hoskins has just discovered he's a mutant. For someone who's never been special, never stood out, this could be his big moment. But as he gains entry into the halls of Xavier's School for Gifted Children, what, exactly, is his gift? He's used to being hated, but is he anything to be feared? Bailey struggles to find a place alongside his fellow students, but the X-universe is a big one — perhaps Mystique will see his potential. Could Magneto have just the mission for him? Or maybe the magic of time travel will reveal days of future glory. (Don't get your hopes up). Max Bemis, frontman of the band Say Anything, makes his Marvel debut with the story of a misfit among misfits, just trying to fit in. Bailey Hoskins? Worst. X-Man. Ever.
Why It’s Cool: And now, for something completely and utterly and entirely different. This is a really fun X-Men story about as the title suggests — the worst X-Man ever. It’s a character that will probably never pop up on Krakoa, but after you read this miniseries, you’ll be wondering about what might happen if he did…
