By Zack Quaintance — This week marks the release of The House of Lost Horizons - A Sarah Jewell Mystery #3, the latest issue from one of the Hellboy Universe’s newest spinoff characters. For the uninitiated, Sarah Jewell is a character that first appeared in the 2016 series, Rise of the Black Flame, going on to make a handful of other small appearances that hinted at a much longer history of battling/investigating the paranormal in this world.
Well, The House of Lost Horizons - A Sarah Jewell Mystery has been (excellently) exploring that history, taking readers along with Sarah as she investigates a locked room murder mystery along with her associate, Marie Therese. The duo have been trapped by a storm and surrounded by potential suspects as they work to unravel supernatural mysteries behind it all. It’s been a really great read, both for fans of the way all Hellboy stories capture mythology and the paranormal, as well as for fans of well-done comic book mysteries.
Today we are honored to run this exclusive preview, in which our intrepid heroes investigate a man who has clearly been beaten to death with a blunt object as rain continues to fall outside. Be warned, though! Today’s preview ends with a page of very creepy (and fantastic) artwork by the team of Leila Del Duca and colorist Michelle Madsen.
