EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: In MAMO #3, friendship and witches

By Zack Quaintance — Today we have an exclusive preview of Mamo #3, a wonderful and gorgeous-looking comic from BOOM! Studios’ BOOM! Box imprint, written and illustrated by Sas Milledge. In addition to being one of the best-looking books on the market today, this comic has featured a touching story about two young women forging a friendship…that just might become a bit more. Also, there is the fate of a small town who has lost its magical protector involved.

Mamo is the always-elusive type of story that can appeal to young readers with its bright simplicity while also feeling rewarding for adult readers with its high command of craft. There are surface level plot points — the town and the magic! — as well as something much deeper, a character-driven coming-of-age love story between our dual leads. It’s all very well done, and we’re honored to have this exclusive preview to share today.

You can find five interior pages from Mamo #3 below, along with an excellent variant cover by Trung Lê Nguyễn (Magic Fish)….enjoy! This comic is due to hit shops on September 8, 2021.
