Dan Slott, Mark Bagley team on new Spider-Man comic, EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE

By Zack Quaintance — Dan Slott and Mark Bagley — two of the most prolific and character-defining Spider-Man creators of the past 20 years — will return to the character with a new miniseries in August titled Edge of Spider-Verse, Marvel Comics has announced. The series, which will span five issues, with the publishing noting that it “will set the stage for THE END OF SPIDER-VERSE, a new epic launching later this year.” That sounds like a new Spider event to me, one that will run right up to the July 2023 release of the new animated film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Slott and Bagley won’t be the only creators working on this books, either. Each of the five issues will essentially be a three-story anthology, with the Slott-Bagley story continuing in each along with two other stories. In the first issue, writers Alex Segura and Karla Pacheco will be joining the team. All throughout, the series will feature cover artwork by Josemaria Casanovas. The book will not adhere to a monthly schedule, instead releasing its first three issues on Aug. 3, Aug. 17, and Aug. 31.

Along with the release and conceptual details, the Marvel announcement also revealed that the series will introduce new characters while also revisiting old favorites like Araña, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Man: India. Cover artwork by Casanovas, as well as a pair of new character designs by Kris Anka and Martin Coccolo can be found after the jump below…enjoy!
