DC Comics Round Robin Tournament Enters Round 2, Reveals Creative Teams
By Zack Quaintance — The first round of DC Comics Round Robin Tournament 2022 is over now, and with eight titles remaining, the publisher has unveiled the creative teams for the ideas that advanced. You can check out the updated bracket below, and you can find out all about the first round from our own round robin post.
The creative teams for each of the advancing books are interesting, with a couple of them really standing out to me as A+ pairings. I’ll go into my personal favs in a minute, but first the details. The creative teams are as follows: Hawkman & Hawkwoman: The Changeling by writer Cavan Scott and artist Fico Ossio; Constantine & The Demon: Vacation from Hell by writer Frank Allen and artist Nik Virella; Suicide Squad: Dark by writer Zac Thompson and artist Garry Brown; Kid Flash: The Speed of Fear by writer Brandon Easton and artist Travis Mercer; Green Lantern: The Birth of Conspiracy by writer Scott Bryan Wilson and artist Skylar Patridge; DC Horror: Ghost Tour from Hell by writer Tee Franklin and artist Dominikie "Domo" Stanton; Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow by writer Kenny Porter and artist Jahnoy Lindsay; and Green Lantern: A Light at The End of Forever by writer Si Spurrier and artist Marco Santucci.
Of that group, the Thompson-Brown pairing on Suicide Squad Dark and the Spurrier-Santucci pairing on Green Lantern: A Light at the End of Forever strike me as overall the best creative teams here. I went on record after the concepts for these books were announced noting that Suicide Squad Dark seemed like a clear destined winner, given that Suicide Squad is a recognizable property and the whole thing is being led by Batman (well, technically, a vampire Batman).
We will, of course, see how the online voting plays out. Finally, seems important to note here that DC Comics has also promised to reveal more about each of these titles as this tournament progresses, including sharing some artwork.
The winner of this tournament will get a digital series via DC Universe Infinite, before ultimately seeing print in October. Voting is live now, and it can be done through DC's Twitter and Instagram accounts, as well as DC Universe Infinite. The voting for the second round runs through April 10.
The folks over at CBR had the exclusive reveal on all of this, btw.
