Top Comics to Buy for November 10, 2021

By Zack Quaintance — Look, it’s been a chaotic week, not only for me but for comics distribution, with a number of delays stemming from some upheaval and unforeseen circumstances with distribution companies. I won’t go into any of that, but if there is a week for the Top Comics to Buy for November 10, 2021 to be delayed, I suppose this a good one. I know my shop hadn’t got its books yet.

Anyway, you can check out our picks for the best of the week below…enjoy!

Top Comics to Buy for November 10, 2021

Batman: The Imposter #2
Writer:
Mattson Tomlin
Artist:
Andrea Sorrentino
Colorist:
Jordie Bellaire
Letterer:
Steve Wands
Publisher:
DC Comics - Black Label
Detective Blair Wong set her sights on Bruce Wayne as a source of information about the Batman-but neither of them was ready for the sparks that flew when they met. Unfortunately for their relationship, the imposter Batman has killed again, and the pressure is mounting to close the case...immediately!
Why It’s Cool:
The artwork for this series has been fantastic from the start, but the story really hooked me now in this second issue, when the scope of the personal relationships at work here becomes clear. I won’t say much more than that because there are a lot of great surprises, but in a year filled with excellent Batman comics, this one is rising to the top.
Price:
$5.99

Mamo #5
Writer:
Sas Milledge
Artist:
Sas Milledge
Letterer:
Sas Milledge
Publisher:
BOOM! Studios
Is friendship more powerful than fate?
Mamo's angry spirit and moth familiar prove to be too much for Orla and Jo and it starts to look like there is no way out of this except to do what Mamo always wanted.
Will Orla complete the circle and embrace her destiny as the new witch in town, becoming as much a part of Haresden as the tides, or is there another way?

Why It’s Cool:
This series finale is a great issue, one that ties together a lot of the very patient character development this gorgeous and ethereal comic has been engaged with from its start. The effect is a central relationship that develops in an organic way that feels real, making the entire series all the more rewarding and meaningful.

$4.99

Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Body #1
Writer:
Christopher Cantwell
Artist: Luca Casalanguida
Colorist: Glada Marchisio
Letterer: AndWorld Design
Publisher:
BOOM! Studios
Where is Lee Harvey Oswald's body?
The Kennedy assassination is a rat's nest of conspiracy theories: mafia involvement, the second gunman, government cover-up... but the most important chapter of this sordid tale may just be the theory that the body buried at Oswald's Rose Hill gravesite is not actually Lee Harvey himself.
Meet the ragtag group of "useful idiots" who are unwittingly brought together to clean up the crime of the century - a wannabe cowboy from Wisconsin, a Buddy Holly-idolizing (former) car thief, a world-weary Civil Rights activist ready for revolution, and a failed G-Man who still acts the part - and specifically, regarding the matter of Oswald's body.
For fans of Department of Truth and Time Before Time comes an off-kilter crime thriller set in the shadows of history's greatest conspiracy by Eisner Award-nominated writer, producer, and director Christopher Cantwell (Iron Man, The United States of Captain America) and artist Luca Casalanguida (Lost Soldiers, Scout's Honor).
Why It’s Cool: I absolutely loved everything about this comic, an excellent conspiracy story that also grounds itself (and quickly) in a rich cast of fully-realized characters. It’s all really well done, but I came away from this book so excited to learn more about the cast assembled, all with a really interesting shadowy mystery story back drop.
Price: $3.99

This book has been a blast, one of those pulpy adventure comics that knows exactly what it is and is here to have fun with it. From the fantastic Capullo-Glapion-McCaig artwork to the self-aware scripting, this series (which is digital-only…for now) is a blast.
