Best ComiXology Sales: Catch-Up on Image Comics

Adventureman, Vol. 1: The End And Everything After
Writer:
Matt Fraction
Artist: Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Publisher: Image Comics
WHERE HIS STORY ENDED...HER STORY BEGINS! Everyone knows the story of how ADVENTUREMAN, the greatest pulp hero of all time, ended in a heartbreaking CLIFFHANGER with our hero facing his very execution...now, learn the startling truth about how, 80 years after his seeming demise, single mother Claire and her Adventurefan son Tommy light the spark of RESURRECTION! Can these inheritors of the Adventureman legacy rise up to face down the evil that bested the original?
Why It’s Cool: Adventureman has, simply put, been an adventure. It’s a well-executed pulpy romp through storytelling traditions that speaks to the very nature of narratives. Each of the book’s four chapters so far has been intriguing and over-sized, adding up to a fantastic first volume. The fifth issue is out now, so catch up with this collection before picking it up monthly.
Price: $12.49

Die, Vol.1 - Die, Vol. 3
Writer:
Kieron Gillen
Artist: Stephanie Hans
Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Publisher: Image Comics
THE WICKED + THE DIVINE writer KIERON GILLEN teams up with artist supernova STEPHANIE HANS (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE 1831, Journey Into Mystery) for her first ongoing comic! DIE is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of forty-something adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. If Kieron's in a rush, he describes it as "Goth Jumanji." That only captures a sliver of what you'll find in oversized debut issue—where fantasy gets all too real.
Why It’s Cool: We liked this dark take on TTRPGs and reality so much, that we reviewed it’s finale with an entire roundtable of comics critics. It’s a very good back, start to finish, and if you somehow missed it, you can get the first three volumes on sale right now.
Prices: $5.99 for vol. 1, and $6.99 for the other two volumes; or $19.97 for the whole series to date

Ice Cream Man, Vol. 1 - Ice Cream Man, Vol. 6
Writer:
W. Maxwell Prince
Artist: Marin Morazzo
Colorist: Chris O’Halloran
Letterer: Good Old Neon
Publisher: Image Comics
Chocolate, vanilla, existential horror, drug addiction, musical fantasy...there's a flavor for everyone's misery. ICE CREAM MAN is a genre-defying comic book series featuring disparate "one-shot" tales of sorrow, wonder, and redemption. Each installment features its own cast of strange characters, dealing with their own special sundae of suffering. And on the periphery of all of them, like the twinkly music of his colorful truck, is the Ice Cream Man—a weaver of stories, a purveyor of sweet treats. Friend. Foe. God. Demon. The man who, with a snap of his fingers—lickety split!—can change the course of your life forever.
Why It’s Cool: Ice Cream Man is one of the best monthly comics on the shelves, having taken our Best Of The Year title for two consecutive years, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down, not even a little bit. Now, you can get the first five volumes of the book for really great prices.
Price: $6.49 for the first two volumes, and $6.99 for the next three volumes; or $33.95 for all five volumes
Buy Them Here: Ice Cream Man Vol. 1; Ice Cream Man Vol. 2; Ice Cream Man Vol. 3; Ice Cream Man Vol. 4; and Ice Cream Man Vol. 5

Justice League International, Vol. 1 - Justice League International, Vol. 6
Writers:
J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen
Artists: Kevin Maguire, Ty Templeton, Bart Sears, and Adam Hughes
Publisher: DC Comics
A new generation of the world's greatest super-heroes takes center stage in the wake of a world crisis, but it's the most unlikely grouping of heroes ever! Known for its comedic tones and quirky cast, this chapter in League history is unforgettable! This series begins with JUSTICE LEAGUE issues #1-6, JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL (1987-1989) issues 7-25, and continues through JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (1989-1996) issues 26-113.
Why It’s Cool: This is one of the single best Justice League runs of all time, a different sort of approach that sees less of the god-like interpretation of the team and more of the team as a sitcom-esque family. These are really interesting and endearing comics, and there’s also never been a better time to read them, with this version of the team poised to appear in the upcoming Human Target series by writer Tom King and artist Greg Smallwood.
Price: $6.49 each for the first five volumes, $8.49 for the sixth volume, or $40.94 for the whole run
Buy Them Here: Justice League International Vol. 1; Justice League International Vol. 2; Justice League International Vol. 3; Justice League International Vol. 4; Justice League International Vol. 5; and Justice League International Vol. 6

Saga: Compendium One
Writer:
Brian K. Vaughan
Artist: Fiona Staples
Letterer: Fonografiks
Publisher: Image Comics
THE ULTIMATE BINGE-READ! Collecting the first nine volumes of the critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling series into one massive paperback, this compendium tells the entire story (so far!) of a girl named Hazel and her star-crossed parents. Features 1,400 pages of gorgeously graphic full-color artwork, including a new cover from Eisner Award-winning SAGA co-creator FIONA STAPLES. Collects SAGA #1-54
Why It’s Cool: We’ve been reading the Saga tea leaves for a good while, anxiously awaiting the announcement that the book will be coming back. Now, with writer Brian K. Vaughan poised to make a big announcement at NYCC next week, we’re all but certain it will be the return of Saga (a book we have covered in-depth, to say the least). If you want to jump into Saga, or do a re-read to refresh your memory, now you can get the entire series to date for just $23.99. Hell of a deal.
