Best comiXology Sales - Weekend of April 9, 2021

The Complete Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Vol. 1
Writer/Artist:
Don Rosa
Publisher: Fantagraphics
From his shoe-shining boyhood in Scotland to his treasure-hoarding adulthood in Duckburg, Uncle Scrooge McDuck has lived a life of legend ― a legend founded by Scrooge’s creator Carl Barks and carried to new heights in Don Rosa’s signature storyline, "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck!" But never before has Rosa’s epic ― originally told in twelve Eisner Award–winning chapters plus a wealth of "companion" follow-ups ― been fully assembled in the precise timeline of the events they tell! Now join Scrooge, Donald Duck, the Beagle Boys, Flintheart Glomgold, and more for the first-ever complete and chronological Scrooge McDuck biography!
Why It’s Cool: Don Rosa’s phenomenal Scrooge McDuck comics are as classic as classic comics get, and this chronological compilation of the first volume is the place to start with this Eisner Award-winning duck comics epic. Warning: you almost certainly won’t be able to stop with just this book. A must-read for fans of the comics medium.
Price: $9.99

Crisis on Infinite Earths, Companion Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 - Vol. 3
Writers:
Gerry Conway, Steve Englehart, Elliot S. Maggin, Roy Thomas, and more
Artists: Todd McFarlane, Joe Staton, Curt Swan, and more
Publisher: DC Comics
All the tie-in stories to Marv Wolfman and George Perez's CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS are finally collected in this massive deluxe compendium, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS COMPANION DELUXE EDITION VOL. 1 - VOL. 3! In 1985, DC Comics dramatically altered comics' original universe with CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, a 12-issue series that rocked the comics community. This landmark graphic novel is one of the most nuanced, sweeping sagas ever told. Now, all the tie-in stories are finally collected in this massive deluxe compendium CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS COMPANION DELUXE EDITION VOL. 1!
Why It’s Cool: Confession time — while I’ve read Crisis on Infinite Earths, the landmark linewide DC Comics crossover that ranks as the publishers first (of many) retooling of continuity, but I have not read the companion volumes, which contain the many tie-ins that really make this a robust and more interesting event. Well, now is my time to make sure I have those volumes on my tablet, ready to go when I finally get to read them soon.
Price: $12.99 each or $38.97 for all three

Invincible Compendium Vol. 1 - Vol. 3
Writer:
Robert Kirkman
Artists: Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley
Publisher: Image Comics - Skybound
Mark Grayson is teenage superhero Invincible. He was a normal high school senior with a normal part-time job and otherwise normal life, except his father Nolan is the superhero Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet. At the age of 17, Mark begins to display superpowers, which come from his father being a member of the Viltrumite race, who, according to Nolan, pioneer the galaxy on a mission of benevolence and enlightenment. As Invincible, Mark begins working as a superhero, with his father acting as his mentor, and meeting other heroes. Mark worked occasionally with a superhero team called the Teen Team (consisting of Robot, Rex Plode, Dupli-Kate and Atom Eve), from there discovering that his Physics teacher has been turning his students into human bombs. He stops his teacher with the help of the heroine, Atom Eve. He also foils a plan to make an army of robots, created by the Mauler Twins. Meanwhile Omni-Man is kidnapped by aliens, taken to another dimension, but returns after what seems to be only a few days, but was actually eight months to him.
Why It’s Cool:
Look, I know we had this on one of our lists a couple of weeks ago, but now that the Invincible animated series is out in the world collecting buzz, I think it bears mentioning once again (plus, it’s also still on sale). Are you curious about the Robert Kirkman/Cory Walker/Ryan Ottley superhero epic? Well, now you can get the entire thing relatively cheap.
Price: $19.99 for Vol. 1 and 2; $24.99 for Vol. 3; or $64.97 for all 3

Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt
Writer:
Kieron Gillen
Artist: Caspar Wijngaard
Publisher: Dynamite Entertainment
His level of genius is matched only by his heroics, and in humanity's darkest hour, he's the hero they need the most-alas, poor humanity. Peter Cannon-the man known as Thunderbolt-is only too happy to leave civilization to face its end. Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + the Divine) teams up with powerhouse artist Caspar Wijngaard (Doctor Aphra) as he returns to the superhero genre with a dark, humorous and relentless love song to the genre. Well, "Love Song" in a Leonard Cohen Love Song kind of way. Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt: saving a world he hates.
Why It’s Cool: Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt is writer Kieron Gillen and artist Caspar Wijngaard’s formulist experiment with deconstructing the most famous superhero deconstruction, Watchmen, and it’s one that is executed with the utmost respect and reverence for the source material. If you missed this comic during its run, now is a great time to catch up.
Price: $4.99

Suicide Squad: The Silver Age
Writer:
Robert Kanigher
Artist: Ross Andru and Mike Esposito
Publisher: DC Comics
The exciting origins of the original Suicide Squad are revealed in this Silver Age comics tale SUICIDE SQUAD: THE SILVER AGE.
When a large wave appears carrying an object capable of destroying anything in its path, the authorities try everything they can to stop it from making landfall. With all other options exhausted, the U.S. calls in their new team, Task Force X, led by Rick Flag! But what’s this? An island in the South Pacific inhabited entirely by giant dinosaurs? A line of brave soldiers is all that stands between civilization and their giant deadly claws. Can the Suicide Squad save humanity from these oversize monsters?
Collects THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #25-27 and #37-39 and STAR SPANGLED WAR STORIES #110-111, #116-121, #125 and #127-128.

Why It’s Cool: These are (probably) not the comics that you think they are. They’re not the recent reinvention of the Suicide Squad concept, laced with brain bombs and helmed by the star power of Harley Quinn. Heck, this isn’t even the fantastic run of Ostrander Suicide Squad comics, that gave rise to the disposable villain that could die at any time concept. These are true Silver Age adventure comics, and they’re very much worth checking out if you’re unfamiliar.
Price: $8.99
