By Zack Quaintance — This week I am honored to present our list of best comiXology sales list, Halloween part 2. Whereas last week’s list (which is all still on sale, btw) aired a bit closer to the traditionally spooky, this week’s gets just a bit outside the box, featuring an historical epic, some of the best horror cartoonists of all-time, and a Locke and Key sale that is among the best values I’ve ever seen on the site.

Check out our full lists of Halloween comics sales picks below…enjoy!

A new edition of the mind-bending historical epic, with extra material by author Douglas Rushkoff (Program or be Programmed) and a new cover by artist Michael Avon Oeming (Powers)! During the second World War, the legendary occultist Aleister Crowley develops a powerful and dangerous new weapon in the conflict against the Axis of evil. But this unconventional new form of warfare could cast the world into Armageddon!
Why It’s Cool: World War II! Media theory! Iconography! Mysticism! The occult! There really isn’t anything quite like this book in all of comics, or really elsewhere for this matter, and this year it just got a new edition with new material and a new cover.

Hellboy Omnibus Vol. 4: Hellboy in Hell
Writer:
Mike Mignola
Artist: Mike Mignola
Colorist: Dave Stewart
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
The Hellboy saga concludes, with the most ambitious chapter, Hellboy in Hell, collected in its entirety--all written and drawn by Mike Mignola.
On the heels of Hellboy Omnibus Volume 3: The Wild Hunt, Hellboy is cast into Hell, where familiar faces reveal secrets of his origins, and previously unknown family members come forward. Hellboy forever alters the face of Hell, giving new significance to his role of Beast of the Apocalypse.
While featuring big answers and one of the most momentous choices Hellboy's ever made, Hellboy in Hell also offers a return to the simplest and best Hellboy stories, as Hellboy roams a unique world only Mignola could present, filled with strange and magical encounters rich with the power of folklore and myth.
The four volume Hellboy Omnibus series along with the two volumes of The Complete Short Stories collect all of Mignola's award-winning Hellboy stories in chronological order for a definitive reading experience.
Why It’s Cool: As long-time readers of the site will likely know, I’m a huge fan of Hellboy comics, and while there are many potential titles for this crown, I would peg this one volume in particular as Mike Mignola’s Hellboy opus. It’s so so good, both for fans of the entire Hellboy Universe as well as for general comics fans who just want a good book to pick up.

Killadelphia, Vol. 1 - Vol. 2
Writer:
Rodney Barnes
Artist: Jason Shawn Alexander
Publisher: Image Comics
Featuring the show-stopping talents of SPAWN series artist JASON SHAWN ALEXANDER and the writer behind such hit shows as Wutang: An American Saga, Marvel's Runaways, and Starz's American Gods—RODNEY BARNES. When a small-town beat cop comes home to bury his murdered father—the revered Philadelphia detective James Sangster Sr.—he begins to unravel a mystery that leads him down a path of horrors that will shake his beliefs to their core. The city that was once the symbol of liberty and freedom has fallen prey to corruption, poverty, unemployment, brutality... and vampires. Welcome to KILLADELPHIA.
Why It’s Cool: There are a lot of great vampire stories in comics as of late, few are now — nor have they ever been — as interesting and nuanced as Killadelphia, which juxtaposes vampire fiction with real world societal ills in Philadelphia. Simply put, this book is a very smart and downright creepy comic, a fantastic series to catch up on this month.

$10.98

Locke and Key, Vol. 1 - Vol. 6
Writer:
Joe Hill
Artist: Gabriel Rodriguez
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Acclaimed suspense novelist and New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill (Heart-Shaped Box) creates an all-new story of dark fantasy and wonder: Locke & Key. Written by Hill and featuring astounding artwork from Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them... and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all...
Why It’s Cool: I don’t know if I’ve seen a better value recently than all six volumes of Locke and Key for about $11, and time that value to spooky season? Friends, it doesn’t get much better than that. I highly recommend putting out that $11, sitting down with these comics, and strapping in for a creepy good time.
Price:
$1.99 each; or $10.94 for all six volumes
