HOWL, a sci-fi graphic novel - SMALL PRESS PREVIEW

By Zack Quaintance — It always feels like there are too many good projects on Kickstarter, with too many great writers and support talented artists to keep up with…which is to say I particularly enjoy Kickstarter projects that give me a chance to interact with the work of a large group of creators. Today’s small press preview is certainly one of those. I’d like to introduce all of you to Howl, a community comic written by Tom Abbosh that aims to hire a new illustrator for each chapter of the book.

The book itself tells the story of a galactic treasurer hunter in search of an extinct civilization on the “infamous jungle planet of HOWL.” Thus the title. The project is just getting started, and we’re lucky enough today to have an early preview of work done so far, plans for the future, and the ultimate scope of what this book hopes to be.

So check it out! You can find the link to support this great project on Kickstarter below, followed by the first three pages from Howl, which (obviously) come from chapter one, illustrated by Adam Kindred…enjoy!

A galactic treasure hunter loses far more than just his mind when searching for an extinct civilization on the infamous jungle planet HOWL. HOWL is a lo-fi/sci-fi cosmic horror.

We’re a community project – we hire a new illustrator for each new chapter of the book, crowdfunding our budgets. We’re in the early days of production, so we’re looking to connect with as many artists and collaborators as possible.

And now, the main event…the artwork!
